CORPORATE GOVERNANCE FROM OUR POINT OF VIEW
As a business services provider, our anticipated result for each client is based on the principles of Good Corporate Governance. The very
essence of our existence is promoting Good Corporate Citizenship. Not only do we ensure that Good Corporate Systems and Controls are
implemented, evaluated, audited and maintained, it is our life blood. We strongly oppose all and any forms of corruption and subscribe to
good codes of practise when dealing with clients, suppliers, Receivers of Revenue, Government and all other stakeholders including,
directors, shareholders, trustees and members, thus ensuring that we ourselves remain Good Corporate Citizens.
De Novo commands respect for the manner in which it applies ethics, empathy, accountability and responsibility and expects other
corporations with whom it interacts to be equally Good Corporate Citizens.
It is for this reason that we subscribe to the GAI and the implementation of the principles of King III.
THE GAI EXPLAINED:
The GAI is supported by the Institute of Directors (“IoDSA”) as well as other large Corporates who have similar convictions on Good
Corporate Governance and the relevant outcomes.
It is a web-based tool with different modules which supports all business sectors, including Public Listed Companies, Large Private
Companies, Small Medium Enterprises, State-owned entities, Medical Funds, Pension Funds, Non Profit Organisations, etc. The aim of the
tool is to provide a credible and generally accepted national standard to measure how an organisation is performing in terms of Good
Corporate Governance. On completion of the assessment questions the GAI generates reports that consist of the following:
- An overall result;
- A traffic light indicator and dashboard per assessment category;
- Narrative reporting with various degrees of detail depending on the requirement of the user.
Angela Oosthuizen, Chief Operating Officer at IoDSA explains the GAI as: “A yardstick for measuring Corporate Governance and an
enabler, assisting organisations with recommendations around the implementation of King III”
BENEFITS FOR YOUR ORGANISATION:
The improvement in standards set by Corporate Governance practices will be to the benefit of Companies and could include:
- Both improved stakeholder communication as well as stakeholder satisfaction by the implementation of good financial, social,
ethical and environmental practices;
- Growth of Corporate Citizenship including corporate ethics and values throughout the enterprise;
- Improving the Company’s risk identification and business continuity plan.
